Howard played at Marquette for only one season, 2001-02 - his freshman year - as a reserve.

He was one of five recruits signed during the 2000-01 season. The others were Travis Diener, Kevin Menard, Todd Townsend, and transfer Robert Jackson.

Along with sophomore Odartey Blankson and fellow freshman Kevin Menard, Howard transferred out of Marquette. He eventually signed with Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Indiana.
